Artist Spotlight: Milly Rose – Fantastic Faces

We’re delighted to welcome Milly Rose, owner of Fantastic Faces, as a demo artist at the FACE Conference 2026. Based in Yorkshire, Milly brings not only exceptional painting skills to the FACE stage, but also a refreshingly honest and practical approach to building a sustainable career in face painting.

Experience

Milly has been a professional face painter for over ten years. What began as a way to support herself and her son during an incredibly challenging period of her life has grown into a thriving, full-time business. Face painting became more than a creative outlet — it provided financial stability, purpose, and a pathway to building a career rooted in resilience, creativity, and joy.

Speciality

Known for her bold, ornate designs, Milly specialises in high-impact, on-the-job painting. Her strength lies in creating fast, effective designs that perform exceptionally well at high-volume events without compromising quality. Alongside running her own successful business, Milly privately coaches and mentors other artists, helping them improve efficiency, pricing, and profitability through practical guidance and clear, actionable strategies.

Career Highlights

In 2024, Milly won the UKFABAC Body Painting Competition in the Intermediate category after completing only a handful of body paints. She also won the UKFABAC Lockdown Competition in 2021. However, her proudest achievement is building a consistently profitable full-time business and stepping into the role of business coach, supporting other artists in creating sustainable, realistic careers of their own.

Inspiration

One of Milly’s earliest inspirations was Cirque du Soleil. Seeing it as a child sparked her fascination with painted faces and theatrical artistry, and that sense of wonder continues to influence her work today.

Fun Fact

Milly is a passionate neurodivergent advocate. Diagnosed with autism and ADHD in her early 30s after her son received his diagnosis, she openly champions accessibility, inclusion, and realistic definitions of success within creative industries.

FACE 2026 Role

FACE was the very first face painting conference Milly attended back in 2020. Discovering such a supportive and talented community had a profound impact on her journey. Being invited back as a demo artist is a full-circle moment, and she’s excited to contribute in a meaningful and practical way.

Demo Theme: On The Job

Milly’s demo, On The Job, offers a candid look at how artists can confidently increase income and upsell at events. She’ll be showcasing two of her most popular, proven designs — designs that have collectively generated around £50,000 in bookings — while talking through the mindset and techniques behind their success.

What You’ll Learn

Attendees can expect to leave with a renewed sense of confidence in the value of their skills, along with realistic strategies they can implement immediately. Milly’s goal is for artists to walk away feeling empowered to improve both their confidence and their income, without burnout or unrealistic expectations.
