🎨 Artist Spotlight: Gillian Child

Meet Gillian Child, a talented face painter based in the lovely seaside town of Herne Bay, Kent. Gillian has been painting faces for an impressive 17 years. What began as a bit of fun painting friends and family soon turned into a full-time passion, and she has now been working professionally for the past eight years.

Gillian doesn’t describe herself as having a set style. She prefers to go with the flow, painting what feels right in the moment and enjoying the creative process along the way. Her relaxed approach and sense of humour make her a joy to watch in action.

A standout moment in her career has been working as an instructor for FABA TV and FABAIC Online, two of the world’s leading platforms for face and body artists. She was also invited to teach in person at FABAIC in Florida, a wonderful opportunity to share her skills and connect with artists from around the world.

Her artistry has also been recognised here in the UK, with awards from the UK Face Painting Convention and the FACE Association.

When it comes to inspiration, Gillian finds ideas everywhere. She often looks to nature for colour palettes and design ideas, and she admits that “Google is my friend” when it comes to finding new references. Away from the brushes and paint, there’s a fun side to her too, she’s a big fan of heavy metal music! 🎸

Gillian is especially excited to be demoing at the FACE Conference 2026, as FACE holds a special place in her heart. She’s proud to be a member and thrilled to have the chance to give something back to the community that has supported her throughout her career.

Her upcoming Halloween-themed demo will be packed with tips and inspiration for the spooky season ahead. With Halloween just around the corner, Gillian hopes her session will give painters plenty of fresh ideas and creative confidence for the busy weeks to come. 🎃
